John Adam served in the Civil War (1862-1865) as a member of the 3rd Wisconsin Calvary, hence his opportunity to live out his final days (from Nov 5, 1918) and passed away at the Old Soldiers Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

This picture was taken February 2, 1898
at the funeral of John's mother in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Three months later, lighting struck the Biwer family Iowa farm home killing John's wife, daughter and disabling another daughter [brain damage].
